4/20 Quick Update

Carissa is still in stable condition and has her oxygen assistance generally pretty low most of the time. She did have an additional platelet transfusion early yesterday afternoon. She also had her pic line put in through her right arm last night which will be used to draw blood and give medication since her the lines going through her umbilical cord will not be able to be used for much longer.

Pamela is recovering but still feels like someone cut her open and removed her baby 2 1/2 days ago. Just getting around is quite a painful chore but she is like a horse headed to the barn when we start toward Texas Children's to see Carissa. You can just drop the reins and off she'll go.

I am doing quite nicely, thank you. Scott, Suzanne, and Rebecca Byrd came up last night and Rebecca came bearing a pick me up in the form of giant chocolate chip cookies. I love it when they are pancake sized and you can still say "I just had a couple... or a couple of couples." I think I can keep blackmailing Rebecca by trading trips into the NICU to see Carissa for baked goods. It's the perfect win-win situation.

Every moment Carissa is here is a testament to the power of prayer and the mercy of The Great Physician. Please keep praying for her. What a great exhortation we have at the end of 1 Corinthians 10 when we are told, "Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

Thanks for your prayers and please keep praying. We will start seeing some results over the next few days that my lead to a diagnosis and/or better treatment ideas.

Terry
